I personally found that the presentation has a logical flow and sequence of content. As the presenter, I believe I anticipated questions and answer them in the properly. On regards to grabbing attention in the first 30-60 seconds, I consider the viewer’s interest on the subject to be the most important attention grabber; in other words, if the viewer is not interested in the subject or is not touched by the subject, even the best attention grabber will not be effective.
Furthermore, the context was set with a concise explanation and the message was delivered according to what I was trying to share. Claims were validated and, to whom it may concern, research done at City of Parkland Library is available for examination or verification. Again, claims are believable and no inconsistencies, errors, and typos were found.
One efficient way to avoid clutter was by following a logical sequence. To ensure readability, different font sizes and styles were used. Saying the slides and then showing them instead of just read them made the presentation more interesting and understandable.
Critiquing someone else’s presentation is not a simple task though. What I noticed by reading the posts on the “Share and Critique Presentations” on Sakai is that people do not take criticism positively; they like compliments only. What they do not understand is that real life is not only nice comments and prizes. In fact, in real life, the more ambitious you are, the more you will be criticized; so, if one does not want to criticized then do not ask for other’s opinion.
On the other hand, working on this project was truly enjoyable and helpful. Learning new skills and being flexible (attention criticism freaks!) is a smart way to enhance a career or to move into a new role and, by creating a high-impact presentation, the audience will easily be impressed and even persuaded if message is delivered with utmost professionalism.
